• Slow Cooked Orange Sesame Chicken



    • 1 kg boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into chunks
    • 1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
    • 1/3 cup honey
    • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
    • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
    • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/2 teaspoon powdered ginger
    • 1 teaspoon sea salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon mild chili flakes
    • spring onion and sesame seeds for garnish


    1. Place chicken into slow cooker and turn on to a low heat
    2. Mix all other ingredients together (minus sesame seeds and spring onion) in a large bowl or food processor until well combined. Pour mixture over chicken and stir thoroughly to coat
    3. Cook for 4-5 hours. Remover chicken and cover with foil to keep warm.
    4. Transfer the sauce to a saucepan over a medium heat, cook sauce for approximately 20 minutes until it thickens
    5. Pour over chicken and sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced spring onions
    6. Serve as is or over a bed of cauliflower-fried-rice
