    salisbury steak

    • 500 grams lean beef mince
    • 150 grams mushrooms, sliced
    • 1 egg
    • 1/2 cup almond meal
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    • 2 cups beef stock
    • 1 tablespoon cream (coconut cream is ok)
    • 2 tablespoons tapioca flour

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius
    2. In a large bowl combine (by hand) mince, egg, almond meal, salt, half of the pepper, mustard powder and onion powder. Mix well
    3. Shape the meat into 3 large round and flat patty shapes. Place on a greased or lightly oiled baking tray. Place in oven for 25 minutes
    4. As the meat is cooking, add the mushrooms, beef stock and remaining pepper to a pot and bring to a simmer over a medium heat
    5. Once simmering, slightly reduce the heat and allow to simmer for another 20 minutes or until the mushrooms start to shrink slightly
    6. Add the cream and allow to continue simmering. Add a small amount of water to the tapioca flour and add to the pot. Stir occasionally until sauce thickens
    7. Remove meat from oven and lay over a bed of mashed sweet potato and cover with the sauce
