• Chow Mein



    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 brown onion, sliced
    • 1 large carrot, peeled and grated
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 100 grams snow peas, sliced
    • 1/2 head small cabbage, shredded
    • 500 grams chicken, beef, pork, turkey or lamb mince
    • 1/8 cup soy sauce
    • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
    • 4 teaspoons curry powder
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 spring onion, sliced


    1. In a large frypan over a medium / high heat, add olive oil and allow to heat up
    2. Add onion, carrot, garlic and sauté for 3-4 minutes until everything has softened but not browned
    3. Add shredded cabbage and cook for 3-4 minutes more
    4. Add mince and snow peas and cook for a further 5 minutes, stirring regularly to break up the mince
    5. Add curry powder, soy sauce and fish sauce. Continue to cook for another 5 minutes while stirring regularly
    6. Add salt and pepper to taste as required
    7. Remove and serve with a garnish of sliced spring onion
